Morgan's introduction to music came when he was six years old; his father taught him
to play the harmonica. A year of guitar lessons at the age of eight did not seem to
take root, but at the age of twelve he had his first introduction to the drum set at a new
school and was hooked. By the age of fourteen he had joined a country band and
continued playing licensed venues throughout high school. "I had a great music
teacher who knew what I was doing, and after a few nights with no sleep from playing
gigs and getting home in time to catch the school bus, he allowed me to sleep during
music class in order to catch up a bit."
By the end of high school, Morgan was playing with a blues/rock band that had a few
personnel changes over the years but kept recycling a lot of the same people,
including his future brother-in-law. They started playing locally and began to venture
farther and farther afield but eventually "it just got tired." He quit the band, sold his
drums and went back to school. It would be fifteen years before he picked up the
sticks again.
In the process of raising a family and working a real job, Morgan met Steve who was
working for the same company. They quickly became friends and learned of each
others' musical history. The urge was coming back and a used drum set came along,
followed by a birthday party at Steve's where Morgan met the gang. It didn't take long
before a jam was organized, and it became obvious that "the fit" was very good.
"I've been blessed to find such good friends and to resurrect my love for playing. It's
interesting how everyone's circle has individually come back to where it started, and
even more interesting to see how they all meld together and create what is truly a
