Kelita Haverland Daddy Went Crazy Fanny's Bar Fine Wine Heart On The Line It's No Use I've Done It Everywhere Ordinary Man Red Dress Saturday Night Dancing
Kelita and I met while studying theatre at York University. I remember accompanying her and doing some arranging for her one-woman show "Traces", and sitting in on piano during her very first solo concert at Burton Auditorium. We developed a writing partnership in the 1980s and early '90s during Kelita's country music years. She is now a Contemporary Christian artist with a very successful international career. She's got one of the biggest hearts in this world and lives her dream of helping where she can.

Dennis O'Toole -- singer/songwriter, poet, troubadour -- we met in the mid 1990s at one of his gigs and got along splendidly. We started meeting regularly on Tuesday afternoons (a la Nashville songwriters' style) for the sole purpose of writing songs. We came up with a few good ones and in the process became friends. Circumstance and life interfered a little and our regular sessions faded, but perhaps one day we will start writing together again.

One of my oldest and dearest friends -- we met when I was about 13. Johnny taught me most of what I consider to be good about my guitar playing. In our youth, we spent many nights into the wee hours, jamming and singing beautiful harmony together. If we'd been in the same town for longer stretches, we just might have developed a more prolific writing relationship. One of those people (if you're lucky enough to find them) where the conversation never stops -- it just gets interrupted a little by time and distance. John is a true artist. A wonderful singer/songwriter, with a new passion as a luthier -- he's built some beautiful guitars already and he's just getting started.
Mark and I met while playing a pool-side "Engagement Party" gig with John MacD. During the breaks he convinced me to hire him and come into his studio to record my first songwriting demos. Collaboratively producing, arranging and mixing the tunes with Mark worked really well. BMG Music Canada optioned all of my tunes that were recorded with him. Mark was a treasure to work with and a real talent (great bass player, too!) A few months later, he needed some input with lyrics and asked me to see what I could come up with. That led to a brief lyric-writing partnership (often via phone and answering machines -- it was before the days of email), and some success with a 3rd place win in the MIX 99.9 Annual Songwriting Contest. What fun. And some cool tunes.
