Firebrand Theatre
Firebrand Theatre's Mandate
*** To give life to stories that directly affect the lives of Canadian youth today. ***
firebrand (noun)
a person who is passionate about a particular cause, typically inciting change and taking radical action

Our Mandate:
Firebrand Theatre is committed to giving life to stories that directly affect the lives of Canadian youth today.

Our Mission:
We are dedicated to making these stories accessible and affordable for young audiences.  We will provide
teachers with inclusive curriculum packages to prepare students for the performance and will offer
talk-backs after the show, allowing our knowledgeable acting company to field any questions the students
may have.  Our Study Guide will be sent via email as a pdf file or we can mail a hard copy to you if
requested.
In the past 3 years, over 3000 students in Ontario have been witness to
one of playwright Beau Dixon’s plays including:
Other People's Heaven,
Once A Flame, From Here to Africville, and Freedom Bells.  His
reputation as a playwright is thriving.

Beau is also a highly respected singer/songwriter and music producer.

A Message from Beau Dixon...
Firebrand Theatre is devoted to educating young people through the
medium of theatre.  We are committed to producing Canadian stories by
Canadian playwrights.

My hope is to tell the stories that will provoke and inspire our audiences
and open them up to a new world of possibilities.

In
our third year as an independent theatre company, we are excited to
bring
"Other People's Heaven: The Viola Desmond Story" to Nova Scotia
in February 2012.  Not only will it be exciting to celebrate Black History
Month in Nova Scotia, but also to be there in time to commemorate Viola
Desmond on this year's Canadian postage stamp.  2012 marks our
second year of producing a touring show beyond the province of Ontario,
and, we are thrilled to announce, we will be producing four different
shows throughout the year!

Please browse through our website to find out more about the variety of
stories we have to offer.  We thank you for your support and we hope to
see you at a venue near you!

Yours truly,
Beau Dixon
