blew my mind! It's like Prince meets George
Clinton....but better!  We gotta have him at
Hillside! "

Beau Dixon is a soulful singer-songwriter, talented multi-instrumentalist, and hugely dynamic live
performer.  Beau developed his passion for performance at an early age, singing and playing
piano at church services and in school plays.  This passion is evident in his body of work and
sustains his commitment to his art.

Beau is a storyteller who crafts his songs based on personal experience.  The melodies
incorporate a familiar roots feel that encourages the listener to engage in these experiences and
to explore the thread that links their life with that of this talented performer.

Stylistically Beau's music has been called "soul flavoured urban folk" with such eclectic
influences as Shuggie Otis, Stevie Wonder and Van Morrison.  It is pop with an edge.  Folk with a
beat.  Soul with flavour.

Beau has shared the stage with a wide range of artists, from Raffi to Eric Burden, Prairie Oyster
and Willie P. Bennett to The New Deal and Feist.

Beau currently performs in several different musical groups.  He fronts "Slips 'n' The High Fives"
and the "Beau Dixon Band", is a founding member of "Dub Trinity", as well as guesting with many
musicians (locally & internationally), and performing as a solo act.  Check out the

" Beau Dixon goes old-school with his new collection From Here To East City.  Dixon comes off sounding very confident, as he
should.  The songs are well written, well performed and filled with catchy hooks and melodies.  This disc has a very live feel, which
benefits the overall sound a great deal.  Genre jumping, Dixon goes straight from Motown to soul to Chicago blues with nary a
flinch.  Dixon's voice is sweet, soulful and assured.

Typical of the wide array of styles showcased on this collection, is the vast change from the sweet vibe of 'Livin' Up Town', to the
mellow tune which follows.  'Let's Start Over' has adult oriented radio written all over it.  Even on sugar-sweet tunes like this one,
Dixon still manages to keep the sound grounded and real.  There is a genuine fun-time feel to the songs found on From Here To
East City.  Each song forms a nice collaboration between instrumentation and a chorus of vocals.  The blend of the two is reason
to rejoice.  'Call Me Back' features a melody that carries a genuine Island feel.

Dixon's sound might best be likened to the recent success of similar-minded artist Remy Shand.  Some of the vibes are similar,
and both share a passion for soulful sounds, though Dixon seems to go one step further by sometimes mixing in a world-beat
feel."
Jeff Macklin, The Examiner

"...His album is very cool!  Buy it and see for yourself."
Mike Bell, The Wire
" The sixteen tracks of 'Detroit Folk' are
individually compelling and unique, as
though Dixon was baring his soul little by
little through each of the songs on his
disc....The beauty of this whole CD is that it
has a rare stillness. Amidst all of its motion
and groove, within its heavy vibe and
wrenching lyrics is a powerful quietness
which compells us to slow down and take
the opporunity to know who we are.... "
Erika Werry, Toronto freelance writer

".....Dixon calls his sound 'urban folk',
though his songs lend a whole new
meaning to the genre 'folk'....Take home his
debut CD Detroit Folk. Hear his cool and sly
vocal stylings for yourself... "
Oona Woods, the Algonquin News
" ...Sweet singing front man is coming to town
to show you how much soul he's got!... "
Oona Woods, The Algonquin News
" ...A poetic genius that is lost in most
modern music. "
Greg Gilbert, Ottawa Citizen
" Sweet, sweet music! And what a beautiful
voice! I'm a sucker for stunning voices! "
Verlia, CKLN
" Beau Dixon's Saturday night appearance at the Black Horse Pub is a must-attend event ... when Dixon
performs it's a treat.  A few years back on New Year's Eve, Dixon fronted Slips 'n'  The High Fives at the Red
Dog and had 'em bouncing off the ceiling with his powerful vocals and stage energy ."
